"Goodness, I hope everyone stays safe out there on the festival grounds. Perhaps I should stay around with a First Aid kit… just in case."

[pushes open the door and sticks his head in before blinking, looking upwards towards the ceiling of the church; steps inside the building more before closing the large door quietly, then smooths out his suit carefully; inhales before he begins to look around once more, stepping up to pieces of art and the stainglass windows curiously]

/As it was quiet as usual in the church, Perry had taken it upon himself to go get lunch out at the Ocarina Inn. He returns to the church with a small package of his leftover mushroom rice, only to open the door and gasp at the sight of a stranger looking around the sanctuary./

—Oh! Oh— Oh, my goodness gracious I— I’m terribly sorry, sir! I must’ve forgotten to lock up before I stepped out..! /shakes his head in an attempt to control himself/ Ho—how may I help you?

[ She twiddled her thumbs, interlooping them around each other carefully until he spoke his last sentance. ] “Hmm, maybe. It would be a good idea. I’ll have to talk to Martha and Gina, and see if they can put something up, together with me.”

[ She smiled a tiny bit, closing her eyes, and they shot open as she forgotten something. ]

"Oh, silly of me, Martha and Gina are my maids. They care for me. I’m not sure if you knew."

/Perry smiles, realizing he’s finally begun to really help/ I’m glad you feel that way, Miss Dia.  I’d venture to bet many of your fellow townsfolk would want to help too.

Your maids, of course.  /He nodded, gathering from the manner of her dress that she came from at least a bit of money. It made him smile as well, knowing that despite her sickliness, she did have the means to afford her doctor visits./  They must care for you well.  Your parents must be proud of what a fine young lady you are.

Y-yeah…I…! *Her face turned bright pink, never did she think the man she tossed all over the dance floor was a priest. That wasn’t exactly the most polite thing to do to someone that’s held in regard* Oh gosh, I don’t even know what to say!

/flushes himself as he sees how embarrassed she’s become/ Oh, gracious, this is something!  /laughs a bit awkwardly/ Well—  It’s… good to see you again!

/There’s a bit of an awkward silence then. After a few moments, Perry rubs the back of his neck and chuckles sheepishly/  You know, I— I think I owe you a thank you, Miss.  Looking back on that night… I doubt I would’ve made it onto the dance floor at all, if left to myself.

ann-of-greenstables:

*She giggled a bit* A playmate would be good for him, I think he’s got pent up energy and can’t really let it out inside this church. *Smiled while pouring affection onto the cat, then paused at his comment*

Cat man?

*Ann looked at him, it hit her all at once. The familiarity of his face, yes she could envision that cat mask over the youthful priest’s face* Y-you…you went to the ball didn’t you??

/nods/ You’re right. I try to play with him as much as I can, but I can’t ever while I’m at my post. It would look bad to have cat toys littered around the sanctuary, you know.

The ball? Oh, the masquerade! Why, yes, I— /lets out a small gasp, suddenly wondering how he could possibly have ever mistaken that red headed braid/ Oh! Oh goodness gracious, you were the one who— The young lady in the cow mask!

Tomboy Rancher: Haven't I met you somewhere before..?

/frowns nervously as he watches her try to coax the cat toward her/ Y—yes. I’m sorry, he’s not the most frien— /his eyes widen as Khafra curls himself into her outstretched hand, his frown turning into a relieved smile/ My, it seems the Goddess has blessed you with a…

/blinks with slight amazement as he watches her casually pet his usually-moody cat/ Uh.. A little over a year now. He was from an unexpected litter, and the owner asked if she could donate him to the church. /thinks about it for a moment, before joining Ann in kneeling down, bending at the knee/

I think he’s lonely around here with just me though, probably why tends to be grumpy. I’ve been thinking of maybe getting him a playmate. /reaches out and scratches Khafra when he looks at him/ I guess I’m just a cat man, huh?

▶ Holy Matters [Perry&Leon]

selphiansarcophagus:

The young priest was nothing short of ecstatic at Leon’s near interrogation. Leon couldn’t help but look at the boy in confusion. However, that confusion soon passed as he noted just how quiet this temple — no, church or whatever it was called — was. Where were the people? Did they not come to worship? His bright blue eyes became sad. ”Why is this place empty? I should think a temple as grand and beautiful as this would have more worshipers in it.”

The gleaming excitement in Perry’s eyes faltered at Leon’s realization.  There was a moment of silence, and with the question hanging in the air like that, it only made the building seem emptier.  ”Thank you, Mister Leon,” he trailed off a bit.  “It’s a little embarrassing to say, but… I really don’t know. To be fair, I do get a few regular visitors on Sunday mornings, but for the most part…”   Instead of answering, he turned and looked at the rows of empty pews, sighing quietly.
